IMA Members Tour Cook Medical in Bloomington
2024-11-07
Cook Medical was a final stop on our 2024 State of Indiana Manufacturing Regional Summit/Plant Tour. The event took place on earlier today, in Bloomington.
Cook Medical began in 1963 as a home-based business founded by Bill and Gayle Cook. They manufactured the first US-produced percutaneous wire guides and catheters. Since then, Cook has evolved into a thriving, global medical technology company. Cook now provides minimally invasive medical devices and technologies for nearly every area of the modern hospital, supporting almost 60 clinical specialties. Today, Cook provides products to 135 countries and employs 12,000 employees globally as part of Cook Group.
Gene Baker, IMA Board Member and VP & GM at Cook Medical was our host and led us on the Cook journey from its inception through its success today.
IMA President/CEO Brian Burton welcomed attendees and Andrew Berger, IMA COO and President/CEO-elect, gave an economic and tax update. IMA's Sam Charron and Ashton Eller, part of IMA's governmental affairs team, gave updates on health care, the environmental, employment and other legislative and regulatory matters likely to surface in the upcoming session of the Indiana General Assembly.
After the business meeting, attendees were treated to lunch and given time to network. We then headed out on a tour of Cook Medical's facility.
Thanks so much to Cook Medical and Gene Baker for hosting the event.
Thanks also to Bank of America, who sponsored the 2024 State of Indiana Manufacturing Region Summit/Tour event series, which serves to connect, educate and engage IMA members!
We will once again be presenting this series in 2025. If you are an IMA member company interested in hosting an event at your facility, please contact IMA Director of Events Emily Darwish at edarwish@indianamfg.com.
